Canadian Passport Application and Renewal Forms and Office Locations

Canadian Passport Application
Canadians love to travel. And why not? There is so much to explore outside the boundaries of Canada. However, before you can pack your bags you need to ensure that you have a valid passport.
Don’t stress yet- applying for a Canadian passport or renewing your old one is actually much easier than you may think.
If you’re wondering how to get a Canadian passport, or how to renew your old passport, then you’ve clicked on the right place.
The Canadian Passport Office
There are six sections in the Canadian passport application form: personal information; statement by guarantor; documents to support identity (Social Insurance Number, Driver’s License, Bank card, etc); proof of Canadian citizenship (birth certificate); the application fee; and two passport photos, one signed to prove your identity.
Once you have gathered your documentation you can either submit your passport by mail, by courier or in person at a passport office, a Canada Post office or a Service Canada office. You will need to pay the fee of 87.00 CAD as well. You can expect your passport in two to four weeks unless you have applied for an urgent passport which can take anywhere between 24 hour to 9 business days.
It may seem like a lot of work but if you are organized then this will not be too difficult. You simply need to plan in advance and accept the fact that passport applications take time to organize and process.
Canada Passport New Renewal System
In the past, Canadians were not able to renew their passports. They had to go through the entire application process all over again every five years when their passport expires. However, now you can simply send your current passport, two new passport photographs and the renewal application fee of 87.00 CAD. You can do all of this by mail or in person and expect a new passport within two to four weeks.
Locating a Canadian Passport Form
There are literally passport offices everywhere in Canada. In Alberta alone there are 10 different offices; in British Columbia there are 23. In Ontario there are over 60. Because you can apply at any Passport Canada Office and participating Canada Post or Service Canada, there is most likely an office just around the corner.
If you are overseas and lose or need to renew your passport you don’t have to worry. There are plenty of Canadian embassies in other countries that can help you replace your passport. The process is much the same and the embassies make it as simple and easy for you to get your identity back.
The United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and America all have Canadian embassies in most major cities. The fees may be higher as you may need to pay someone to certify your documents if you are in a foreign country.
Always remember to keep your passport in a safe place and protected from daily wear and tear.
Bon voyage!
