Franck Muller was born in Switzerland on July 11, 1958. He had an Italian mother and a Swiss father. He was raised in a multicultural environment. From an early age, he developed an interest for mechanical devices. Before long the young Franck started to disassemble all the machines present in the house to study their mechanism. During his teens, he collected antique astrological instruments that he bought at the flea market. Mechanics and time, an equation revealed itself naturally: He was gong to devote himself to Time.
School of Watch Making
Franck entered the famous Geneva School of Watch making in the year 1981. After four years of remarkable studies, Franck won the highest distinction and prizes. Responding to his independent nature, he chose the most difficult path: to create his own workshop. This he did instead of joining a brand or any group of watchmakers. It did not take long before his reputation spread. Gifted by outstanding technical talent, auction houses and collectors from all over the globe sent him their treasures for restoration.
After a few years in this field, the hours came when he started creating unique timepieces under his own name. In 1983, Franck Muller presented his first wristwatches, after months of research and micro-mechanical tests. From the same year he unveiled a World Premiere once a year of his inventions that simply drove people crazy! In 1992, Franck had the rare honor of one of his models being granted the exclusive title: “most complicated wristwatch in the world”. In the same year he established his own company, Franck Muller Geneve.
In 1995 a new institutional and production site was inaugurated b the gifted watchmaker. In 1998 Franck organized the first World Presentation of Haute Horology. The year 1999 saw the first laying stones of the two new Franck Muller Watchland buildings. The year 2001 saw the official inauguration of the Franck Muller Watchland. The creation of the first jewelry collections by Franck Muller took place in the same year.
The year 2002 marked the Tenth Anniversary of the company Franck Muller Geneve. In the same year, Franck Muller Geneve was granted the first prize in men’s category of the Geneve Watch Making Grand Prix
