That is exactly what yachts are designed for. Yachts are not fast boats, but they are more geared towards traveling slower to take in the beautiful surroundings while traveling in a beautiful carriage. Yes, a yacht is a taste of the good life. Paul Allen’s yacht, which is named the octopus, is not your traditional, average everyday yacht; the octopus is a mega yacht.

If you thought your traditional yacht averaging forty four feet was luxurious, you haven’t seen anything yet. Paul Allen’s yacht The Octopus is an astonishing four hundred and fourteen feet long, which beats the size of his other yacht tatoosh which is only three hundred and one feet long. This makes the octopus the third largest yacht, which is privately owned instead of owned by the government. Paul Allen has owned the mega yacht since back in 2003. The octopus is the eighth largest yacht in the entire world. Riding in the lap of luxury is an understatement when you are talking about the octopus. The size of the octopus is not the only thing astonishing about the yacht. The features of the yacht are just as amazing. In fact, the octopus is equipped with two helicopters. One helicopter is located on the front deck of the yacht, while the other helicopter is located on the back deck. The yacht also has a sixty three foot tender boat, which is commonly referred to as a dinghy.

The surprises do not end there
The octopus also features a pool on board, which is located on one of the upper decks of the octopus. The yacht also is equipped with two submarines. One of the submarines is operated by a remote control and features a camera. This submarine is strictly used for studying the bottom of the ocean. The exterior of the yacht was designed by the Espen Oino Naval Architects. The builders of the yacht were German ship builders Lurssen in Bremen and HDW in Kiel. The interior of the yacht was designed by American designer Jonathan Quinn Barnett of Seattle. The body of the yacht is formed of steel. The octopus is a mega yacht.
